Research and Inquiry

Language and logic are the invisible architectures of our institutions. To create change, one must first map the scripts that define the status quo.

Research at Equity Script is an interdisciplinary inquiry into the structures of power and knowledge. My work investigates the intersections of law, social justice, and pedagogy to identify where institutional language fails to serve its mission. This includes analysing constitutional rights, gendered narratives in jurisprudence, and the evolving relationship between technology and intellectual agency. Whether I am drafting policy reform or mentoring academic writing, my approach is grounded in rigorous empirical evidence. I translate complex data into clear and actionable scripts for institutional dignity and intellectual clarity. This methodology ensures that every project results in a deeper understanding of the systems we inhabit and the tools required to improve them.

INSTITUTIONAL REFORM

Institutional dignity begins with the power to name. To reform the judiciary, one must first dismantle the language of servitude.

As a Consultant (Research) at the Centre for Research and Planning, the Supreme Court of India, I conducted a comprehensive pan-India study on the administrative titles within the judiciary. The methodology involved an extensive audit of Supreme Court and High Court service rules alongside the development of the 'grammar of inequality' framework. This analytical lens revealed how caste-coded and colonial job titles perpetuate institutionalised discrimination and servitude. The findings demonstrated that archaic nomenclature creates a landscape of structural inequality that contradicts constitutional values. I proposed dignity-affirming alternatives that were circulated by the Chief Justice of India to every High Court in the country. This project serves as a definitive blueprint for shifting institutional culture through linguistic reform.

AI, Epistemic Agency, and the Global South

I am currently investigating the structural impact of Generative AI on the higher education landscape and the formation of student identity. My research explores how the outsourcing of cognitive labor affects long-term self-efficacy and the development of internalized expertise. This inquiry extends to the epistemic divides within global AI infrastructure, analyzing how dominant technological norms interact with the diverse knowledge systems of the Global South. By evaluating emerging digital initiatives across India and Africa, I am developing a framework for critical AI literacy that prioritises intellectual sovereignty and resilient pedagogical design. This ongoing work aims to provide institutions with the strategic guardrails necessary to preserve human discernment in an increasingly automated world.

Judicial Nomenclature and Institutional Reform

As a Consultant for the Supreme Court of India, I conducted a pan-India study on judicial administrative nomenclature. Through the lens of the 'grammar of inequality' framework, this research audited service rules to identify caste-coded and colonial job titles. My objective was to reveal how archaic language perpetuates institutionalized discrimination and servitude. These findings led to dignity-affirming alternatives that were subsequently circulated by the Chief Justice of India to every High Court. This project is a definitive blueprint for institutional reform through linguistic precision. It remains a vital extension of my commitment to auditing the hidden scripts of administrative power.

Carceral Justice and Marginalised Rights

My work in carceral justice and marginalised rights is built on intensive empirical research within India's most complex social landscapes. This includes qualitative studies on the loopholes in manual scavenging legislation conducted in Gorakhpur (U.P.) and legal audits of custodial rights at the Kalyan Female Prison (Mumbai) and the Choudwar Circle Jail (Cuttack). As a faculty member at National Law University Odisha, I led clinical initiatives in prison advocacy and labour rights ethnography along the informal hubs of Cuttack. I integrate field-based documentation with constitutional protections to ensure that rights-based reform is grounded in accountability and procedural precision.

Inclusive Pedagogy and Global Citizenship

I develop instructional frameworks that prioritise inclusivity and global belonging. My research on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) focuses on creating flexible submission formats and scaffolded tasks to support students with dyslexia, ADHD, and hearing impairments. This is complemented by strategies for multilingual learners that utilise vocabulary scaffolding and structured modeling to enhance academic fluency. I also examine the paradoxes of Global Citizenship Education in India, recommending ways to mitigate support gaps for international students and create safe, inclusive spaces for diverse learning wellness.

Gender and Institutional Culture

I am currently conducting independent research on the structural and cultural barriers facing women in Indian STEM institutions. Through the lens of the 2024 CSIR report and field-level interviews, this socio-institutional study explores how gender is constructed and maintained within scientific environments. My objective is to identify the policy gaps and cultural norms that hinder participation and leadership. This ongoing inquiry is a vital extension of my commitment to auditing the hidden scripts of institutional culture.
